We took a five and a half hour long bus ride to Takayama and now we are staying in the upstairs of a spa. The guy that owns the place is super nice and he has a kid (Yuka) my age! I played GO with her yesterday. If you don't know what GO is it is kind of like chess but in Asia.

There was a tsunami passing by our house. (A tsunami is a hurricane in Asia.) It was very windy and rainy so we had to stay inside. After most of the storm passed by, my parents and I went outside to check how fast the river by our house was moving. It was moving REALLY fast and the water was brown. It was kind of scary going out in the middle of a tsunami, but it was also very fun.
We went to a market the morning before the tsunami and basically every shop had this type of doll called a sarubobo (which means "baby monkey" in Japanese). The dolls were traditionally made by the grandmothers for their grand-daughters for different wishes. Each color for the doll had a different meaning. A red doll means luck, marriage and love. A gold doll means wealth and luck. And a black doll means luck and helps bad fortune go away. There are more different colors of dolls but I only listed three.

We went to this cool shop with a lot of bird magnets and other things like that. But one thing that caught my eye was a small sleeping kitty figurine. I looked that the price and it was only 250 YEN ($2.25). It is SOOOO soft and it is SOOOO kawaii.
